Feature deep-dive · Live floor

See every workstation. Live.

The single biggest waste in SMB manufacturing supervision is the walk-down loop: walk to the line, check the boards, check who's building what, walk back, repeat in 20 minutes. Ignite Lean's live supervisor floor replaces all of that with one screen. Green / amber / red status light at every workstation, tap-in detail, one-tap message. Refreshed live as the floor changes.

The live canvas

Green / amber / red, every workstation

The supervisor floor is the same canvas engineering laid out. Plant on the outside, lines as horizontal flows, workstations as cards along the flow. Each workstation gets a status light: green if a build is in progress, amber if a unit is waiting upstream, red if there's active downtime, grey if the workstation is idle. The lights update sub-second as operators badge in, start builds, hit flags, or end downtime. There is no refresh button. And you stop needing one.

  • Same canvas engineering designed (no second map to maintain)
  • Green / amber / red / grey status light per workstation
  • Sub-second updates. No polling, no manual refresh
  • Status reflects operator + active build + downtime + queue
  • Org-wide rollup at the top: building / waiting / downtime / idle counts
  • Works on desktop, tablet, and phone (mobile uses a drawer for the queue)

Tap-into-station detail

One tap. Operator, queue, current serial.

Tap the caliper-machining workstation card and a side drawer opens with everything you need: the current operator (with their badge photo), the unit they're building, the serial, time elapsed vs. target cycle, queue depth, last five completes, and any active downtime / NC flags. Need to see the actual build steps? Tap "open kiosk" and you mirror the operator's view. Useful for over-shoulder coaching without standing over the operator.

  • Tap any workstation card to open the station drawer
  • Live: operator, current build, serial, elapsed vs. target cycle
  • Queue depth + last five completes
  • Active downtime + recent NC flags
  • Mirror-view of the operator's kiosk for remote coaching
  • Same drawer on mobile. Pulls in from the right edge
One-tap supervisor → operator messaging

Talk to the line without walking it

Need to tell the caliper line to switch to the temporary fixture for the next 20 units? Tap the station, hit "send message", type a one-liner, send. It pops on the operator's tablet within seconds, pinned until they tap "got it". No two-way radio crackling across the plant, no walk-down, no "did you tell second shift?". Each message is timestamped + attributed to you. The operator knows who said it, and the audit log knows who said what to which station when.

  • Send from the live floor. Pick a station, type a one-liner, send
  • Pops on the operator's tablet within seconds
  • Pinned until the operator acknowledges. No missed message
  • Timestamped + attributed to the supervisor who sent it
  • Broadcast to all stations on a line in one shot
  • History per station for the auditor / shift handover
Drag-to-prioritise work orders

Re-sequence the line from the floor view

The work-orders rail (right side on desktop; phone drawer on mobile) shows every open production order for the active line in priority order. Realise the JV-7 caliper order needs to ship today instead of tomorrow? Drag the row to the top. The new sequence persists immediately and propagates everywhere the order list shows up. The Production Orders tab, the kiosk pickup screen, the KPI roll-up. One drag, one source of truth.

  • Live list of open orders for the active line
  • Drag a row to re-prioritise. Atomic database operation
  • Propagates instantly to every order-list surface
  • Operators see the new pickup order on next build
  • Phone: rail collapses to a drawer with a tap-handle
  • Same sequence_index column used by the Production Orders queue
Why the lights actually update

Real-time, not refresh

Most shop-floor dashboards poll the database every 30 seconds and call that "real time". Ignite Lean uses a true publish-subscribe channel (Postgres logical replication via Supabase Realtime) so the supervisor screen receives the change event the instant the operator commits it at the kiosk. No polling delay, no race conditions between two supervisors looking at the same line, no overloaded database from 50 supervisors hitting refresh.

  • True pub-sub channel from the database. No polling
  • Sub-second status updates as the floor commits events
  • Scales linearly with active supervisors. No DB load explosion
  • Encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) end-to-end
  • Reconnects automatically on tab focus / network blip
  • Works behind corporate firewalls (uses standard WebSocket / HTTPS)
